Side effects
Certain medications cause weight gain as a side effect. These include some oral contraceptives, anti-depressants, corticosteroids, lithium and anti-seizure agents.

Black Liberation Theology
The Rev. Jeremiah Wright teaches “black liberation theology”. Liberation theology as it has expressed itself in the African-American community seeks to find a way to make the gospel relevant to black people who must struggle daily under the burden of white oppression. The question that confronts these black theologians is not one that is easily answered. "What if anything does the Christian gospel have to say to powerless black men”, whose existence is "threatened on a daily basis by the insidious tentacles of white power?" If the gospel has nothing to say to people as they confront the daily realities of life, it is a lifeless message.
Since this minister has been Senator Obama’s spiritual mentor for 20 years, will this hurt Senator Obama’s race for the presidency? I believe it should since it goes directly to the issue of his “judgment”. His campaign and especially the Senator knew this could become an issue and for that very reason did not have Rev. Wright at Obama’s announcement of his presidential run. Yet the Senator and his campaign were not prepared for this issue when it became a problem for the campaign. If you are running for president and you know there are two or three problems that could become negative issues for you, shouldn’t I, as a voter,expect you as a candidate to have made some preparation to counter these issues? An experienced Statesman should have been prepared for this. The Senator should have known that if the Democrats did not bring this issue up – the Republicans most certainly will. It is my opinion, that Obama can not win the presidency with this issue hanging over his head.
What if Senator Obama were a white man and attended a church where the Senior Minister preached against the inclusion of blacks into our society? I would be outraged and I maintain this candidate would not even be in the presidential race to begin with.
This goes to the issues which Obama is running on “judgment, experience, and association.” Senator Obama said he did not realize – after 20 years, how could he not realize his minister’s beliefs? Many will see this issue as going against his campaign of bring “blue America and red America” together. He looks to many now as if he is only another cheap politician. If he is going to be the party’s nominee, “swift boating” will destroy his campaign and the Democratic Party will lose the best opportunity to take back the White House in many years. Every super delegate needs to think about this as they are making their decision. As the popular vote stands now – Obama is the party’s nominee unless the delegates and the votes of Florida and Michigan are allowed to stand. Yes, the Democrats will lose the youth vote but the youth vote usually stays home anyway and the black vote will either stay home or go back to Senator Clinton.
Senator Clinton has a chance now to come back but needs to release her tax returns as quickly as possible as that is becoming an issue for her. And the Democrats should just pray that there is not some issue lurking there. There has been talk about how President Clinton raised the money for his library – her campaign better be ready with the answer.
Words do matter. “God damn American” – words do matter. “911 was America’s chickens coming back to roost” – words do matter. The aids virus was a United States experiment to kill off the black community – words do matter. Blacks are ruled by rich whites – words do matter. “Hillary has never been called a n____!” Words do matter. This is what happens when a campaign is built on fine speech and eloquent words.
After Obama’s speech this morning – in the end the speech was just words which I believe is all that Senator Obama is. I feel as if I still don’t know the man or perhaps this man makes me see something inside of myself that I still don’t know or understand.

How to find and keep your dream career
Let’s face it, whether appropriate or not, our career has a lot to do with the first impression people have about us. In fact, people intentional or unintentional judge us based on general opinions of the work we do or where we work. Our career is a conversation starter, a door opener, and our lifeline.
Come to think of it, though, the average person who goes to bed at 10:00 P.M. wakes up at 6:00 A.M., leaves home for work at 7, arrives at 8, and then leaves work at about 5 to arrive back home at 6:00 P.M. This means that you and I spend about 75% of our 16 wake hours pursuing our careers, besides the time we spend thinking or talking about it even while away from work!
As a Life Coach, I have been privileged to work with many people all over the world to successfully enhance the skills and competencies that they require to retain and excel in their demanding jobs, deal with very challenging boss, coworkers and situations, get the desired promoted, or transition to their longstanding dream career. In the process, I learnt the following:
1) We are generally going to be as happy in life as we are in our career, for if what we spend so much time doing is not aligned with our Life Purpose, we labour in pain. Yes, some people may be well paid, but they will never feel well if their hearts are not in what they do.
2) We spend a larger portion of our wake time pursuing our career, thus placing it akin with every other important aspect of our lives. We cannot completely separate other areas of our lives from our career, but MUST ALWAYS ensure the APPROPRIATE balance between them.
3) If we consistently complain (inwardly or outwardly) about our career, place of work, boss, coworkers, projects and everything related to our career, we will never progress in it. In fact, this attitude is a recipe for failure not only in the current career but in every other future career. On the other hand, the top reason why people excel in their careers is because they enjoy doing it. It is because they have a passion for it. It is because they are enthusiastic about it, and fully committed to doing it with all their heart regardless of the pay. If your career is aligned with your purpose, you will be happier by 75% everyday; and very soon, the money which may have been tying you to a job you have no interest in, will become inconsequential.
My personal approach to work is this:
- I go to work looking forward to creating a great day for myself, regardless of whatever happens. I make every effort to truly respect my leaders and every other person at work regardless of any attitude that a chaotic day may be displaying through them.
- I assume every project with passion, quickly making it part of my career purpose, for this helps me to generate the energy and enthusiasm needed to make things happen.
- To protect my integrity, I consistently apply more than the due diligence in every situation. I have made “going the extra mile” part of my daily routine because of the mere possibility that some people around me may be dealing with a more overwhelming workload and family life than me.
- Another part of my daily routine is to keep myself informed through every medium of communication that exists in the company as well as external sources so that I am able to share knowledge with everyone else. Other key values include Trust, Teamwork and Accountability.
Instead of saying, “I don’t know”, I commit myself to finding out the answer. Instead of saying or even thinking, “This does not concern me”, I choose to be loyal to my employer by shepherding the matter to where it belongs.
- Since my manager is likely busier than I am, I take initiative, keep him out of matters than I can handle, and provide him with prompt updates on my successes and challenges. Meanwhile, I am always on the alert for cues, clues and feedback on how I may be able to do things better; for I am convinced that if I wasn’t created for this job, I wouldn’t be this happy doing it. Basically, like Apostle Paul, “Whatever I do, I work at it with all my heart, as if working for God, and not for people”; and God has tremendously blessed me - even through people that others may consider unpleasant. No doubt, “If you love your job, you will never have to work forever”.
Come to think of it, though, the average person who goes to bed at 10:00 P.M. wakes up at 6:00 A.M., leaves home for work at 7, arrives at 8, and then leaves work at about 5 to arrive back home at 6:00 P.M. This means that you and I spend about 75% of our 16 wake hours pursuing our careers, besides the time we spend thinking or talking about it even while away from work!

Becoming a stay at home mother is one of the greatest feelings known to womanhood! It is exciting to know that you are going to raise your own child hands on in the home and be able to enjoy them too! You are excited to change their diapers, wash them, coo to them, teach them, hold them and love them, exactly what you are suppose to feel for your children. But then something happens, you start to become weary and tired, then suddenly all of it can just seem to be too much! The overwhelming dread of being woke up in the middle of the night to tend to your hungry, unhappy child; you start to feel like a failure, as if you are not doing your “job” as a mother correctly. By now you have started to feel a bit unappreciated by everyone and it is magnified because of your sleep deprivation. You are not alone! This is the most common situational struggle that a new stay at home mother goes through. It feels like it will never end, but believe me it does!

4.) Asking for help is a hard thing to do. It is easier when someone suggests some help, but if no one offers a hand, you need to ask. Asking for help is important and essential to do before you are already feeling overwhelmed. If you can utilize the assistance of others, you will be better off on the end.
5.) Don’t forget about yourself. You need some time to reflect alone and it is not selfish to do this once in a while. Learn to treat yourself here and there and you will a much happier sleep deprived mother!

How to Take Care of Your Feet
Keep knees smooth by rubbing them occasionally wit. Fresh lime juice or massage with a nourishing cream. The winter itch that cracks the skin of the heels due to excessive dryness or the use of an alkaline soap can be treated by washing the feet at night in warm water and mild soap and applying a lanolin rich cream or mixture of glycerine and rose water.
If walking barefoot for a while makes no difference, see a podiatrist about getting custom-made shoe inserts, or try some shoes with extra padding. Another common sort of pain is felt in the heel, usually when you put weight on the foot after sitting or lying down. This is probably the plantar fasciatis - a ribbon of ligament running from your down your heel to the ball of your foot. If it's too tight, you'll experience pain. Apply ice to the area, followed by an anti-inflammatory and try the tip outlined the thing with the mini-bar bottle.
Wash your feet daily. Rinse off all soap and dry thoroughly, especially between toes. Trim nails straight across, and not too short. Don't cut out or dig at corners.
Inspect your feet regularly. Pay attention to changes in color and temperature of your feet. Look for thick or discolored nails (a sign of developing fungus), and check for cracks or cuts in the skin. Peeling or scaling on the soles of feet could indicate athlete's foot. Any growth on the foot is not considered normal.

Soak feet for 10 minutes in warm water to which salt has been added. Remove and scrub dry, especially between the toes. This is the easiest way to relax tired feet. In the case of a sprain add Epsom salt to the water for best results.
Protect your feet from extremes in temperature. Keep bath water temperate in the 85-90 F degree range (30-32 C). If neuropathy is present, you may not be able to feel if the water is too hot, and burns could result. Never use heating pads or hot water bottles. Protect your feet from temperatures that are too cold, as well. Prolonged cold can decrease circulation even more.
It's so important to practice preventative care like the tips listed here, every day. If you notice anything that does not look normal please follow up with your healthcare professional immediately. Also, for ultimate foot health, make sure that your healthcare professional assesses your feet at every routine visit.
